I was rudely awakened by a small child kicking his football repetitively against the outside wall at 9am so I did a catheter and went back to sleep briefly and then the house phone rang. Twice. I eventually got out of bed and had a wash. There is an Asda basket in the bath because I couldn't carry my shopping without dropping it last night so decided to keep the basket so I could get my stuff in my apartment safely. I transferred back into bed and carefully pulled on a pair of jeans with holes cut in them. It's not easy but I did it. I then got a top on, fixed my hair and got into the car and drove to my last hometown.

When I arrived I pulled up outside the sunbed shop I used to use, it was a bit upsetting to be honest as I remember walking to the local shops and just walking in general and it really hit me how much I miss walking. I opened the sunbed door and asked for the owner but she doesn't work there anymore. I went in anyway to see if I could get on the sunbed and I could so I bought a package and had 6 minutes on it! It wasn't easy getting dressed into the ripped jeans in such a confined space but I did it and felt better for having a sunbed. I then went to my old nail bar and had my nails done. First time since the accident for both. Is it good timing that in the sunbed place I only had 2 minutes left in my old package when I had my accident?

I'm being extra careful now not to break my nails as I use my hands a lot more than I used to. I was careful with my bum on the sunbed too, don't want to burn that!

Lately the lads from the apartments upstairs have been coming and knocking for me like I'm a teenager, well most of them are, and carrying me upstairs to join them. I've been up a few times now - it's nice! My housemate came home Saturday with his friend and carried me to the top flat and was very wobbly which scared me though. Apparently he jammed or hit my foot in a door too which I didn't notice and it doesn't look injured, just a small bruise. I think people forget I can't pick my own legs up or move them sometimes!

My housemate came home with a giant pumpkin to carve for Halloween which I'm excited about!

I saw a clinical trial advertised on the Internet for complete injuries where they implied they would try to bring back function through electrical stimulation and exercise. I needed to know whether my muscles would respond to electrical stimulation to be considered so I went to the hospital yesterday ti try it out.

It worked on my arm and my hand raised against my will, it felt really weird like pins and needles or a bad trapped nerve. The doctor attached it to my thigh and turned it on, nothing happened even when he turned it up. He tried it on my lower leg too saying my foot would raise if it worked but it didn't. The physio had a downloadable brochure from the trial that she printed off for me and it isn't a trial for function at all, it's a trial to see about preventing obesity in spinal patients so I'm not really missing out! It would have been 18 weeks in America but only 1 hour a day for 5 days a week with $1000 compensation plus $10 a day for travel and they pay board and lodge (they'd only give lunch vouchers for the days of the trial though).

I called the TV show about my previous post and sent pictures of me and they replied with some questions which I answered so now I have to wait and see.

I am in love with Egyptian cotton! When I woke up yesterday morning my housemate came in and gave me a back rub as I was aching. Where he was sat on me and I was lying on my belly I somehow wet myself even though I wasn't due to go so we took the sheet off, cleaned the mattress and I went and had a shower and washed my hair. He's home all week and I wanted some new bedding so we went to the local supermarket and picked up a food shop and some bedding. When I made the bed I didn't like the feel of the bedding so today we went to a town nearby and I got some Egyptian cotton bed sheets. I can't wait to put them on!

I had no plans yesterday when my friend text me saying she was coming home from work early and invited me over. She asked me to pick up some thing in the shop for someone she knows and I made my way over. We got to the house for this someone and I gave him what he asked for and he only gave me half the money, said 'I have to owe you £25' and walked off. I was fuming, I asked my friend to sort it out and she just said 'I don't know him that well' and there was a big fuss and the man just left with 2 other boys. What a complete prize prick. If I saw him on the way to my friend's house I would've ran him over.

Anyway when we arrived my friend was getting my chair out when one of her neighbours was leaving his mother's and asked if we needed help. He carried me in like a princess and my friend brought my chair. After a while the girl who owned the house where I got ripped off called as they had trashed her house and the police were there. I did a quick catheter and got into my chair from the sofa and my friend helped me out of her house and to the car. We picked the other girl up with her friend and returned to my friend's house.

When I decided to go home my friend came with me and we encouraged some of the lads from the apartment upstairs to join us. After they left I had a lie down and then I took my friend home!

Sunday 4 October 2009

On Saturday some of my housemate's friends were supposed to go out with him but they didn't answer their phones so I took him where he needed to go. He was very restless through the evening and called a few friends and decided he wanted to visit one in Newport. I got myself together and we drove up. There were a few odd steps into his friend's house so he and his friend carried me in the chair into the living room where there were 3 other people and 2 dogs. One started barking and came up to me and I really hate dogs, I panicked straight away and a girl on the sofa said 'it's OK they're friendly' to which I relied 'I don't care, I have a phobia' which is far easier than saying I don't like dogs which always leads to questions and stupid comments.

After a while I had my eye on a comfy chair and transferred in and one of the boys sat in my chair. They all had a drink and after a while I had to get my housemate to carry me to the bathroom. It was a little too late so I asked the house owner if I could borrow a pair of bottoms and we changed my jeans on the sofa where I stayed til we left at about 10am Sunday morning.

The sun was out in force, I was really tired so my housemate drove back and we went to bed as soon as we got back.

So I'm in Blackpool! I don't know if it's just because I don't really sit in my chair that often or the excessive wheeling but my entire back is killing me even below my level of injury where I can't feel it. It's my seat I'm sure. I told her I wanted it very upright as I've always sat with perfect posture and the way it is now it's 90 degrees but it causes me to slouch backwards. I've already put sponges down the back of the seat between the fabric. Considering putting something more solid there!

There are wheelers everywhere here, no young ones though!
